Following instruction from BasektballScotland, all basketball activity around the cancelled with immediate effect on Friday due to the Covid-19 threat. BUCS followed suit last night to announce that from 23:59 this evening (Tuesday 17th March), all BUCS activity is also suspended. The Club have also followed advice from Team UWS to also suspend all training.
With this, our season is done. We are incredibly proud of the season we have had, but it was not over as UWS Women’s basketball still had one away fixture left against Stirling University. With UWS sitting top of the table with a 8-0 record and Glasgow University in second at 8-1, it is unclear what will happen to confirm promotion and for who.
We urge all of our players and support to follow government and WHO advice regarding the Coronavirus. Stay healthy, basketball is not important when public health is at stake.
