OSEI: Non ci ricordiamo dei giorni, ci ricordiamo dei momenti

UWS Basketball bids Farewell to Longest Serving Member

We don’t remember the days, we remember the moments.”

Four glorious years has come to an end as our current longest serving member bids farewell from playing.

Frederic Osei, a 5’10 Guard from Italy/Ghana, has seen basketball at UWS go from the depths of Division 4 to now, gaining promotion to Division 1. Being a key part of the Basketball programme overhaul, Osei has been a part of 3 consecutive league titles as well as back to back Scottish National Titles.

Speaking on being a part of UWS Basketball, Freddie said;

Basketball at UWS honestly has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. Being part of just not a team, but a family you can rely on when you are at your lowest is indeed one of the greatest gift I can ever receive. Having great teammates who you can rely on and off the court and a coach that understands you not just as a player but as a person, indeed has helped me be the best version of myself. In my final year, I am distraught about leaving this great club but…. Non ci ricordiamo dei giorni, ci ricordiamo dei momenti. Goodbye UWS basketball

Freddie Osei

Osei has been an integral part of the defence for UWS, leading the way off the bench and was highlighted by a Championship winning block in the Scottish Title final against Napier, earlier this year.

Head Coach Johnathan MacLeod commented,

Freddie has been a key part of everything we do on, and off, the court. He’s been great in training and in games bringing his intensity and someone I can rely on to bring energy to the game. He brought the team ethos in and ensured every new player felt like one of the guys and would go the extra mile to be committed. I’ll miss calling his name for a critical defensive possession next year.

Men’s Captain Milo Lockhart said

Freddie was a key person in the team who was a true part of the basketball team. He brought heart and hype to the whole team and was a complete asset to the team defensively and hype-fensively.
