Hall of Fame: Nicole Davidson

One of the first players to kickstart the women’s programme at UWS, Nicole Davidson has had 2 years with UWS Basketball that we will never forget. Captain of the women’s team for two years as well as taking on presidency in her graduate year, we will forever be thankful for all Nicole has done for the club.

A dominant force on the court, Davidson led UWS to a second place finish in their inaugural season together and did one better the following season, lifting the teams first ever league title and a magical Cup run that couldn’t quite finish the way we were all hoping for. A cup run that was highlighted by a nail biting win over eventual D1 side St Andrews 1sts in the Saints Arena, Nicole and Co. returned to the Fife venue the following fortnight for the National title game in which the whole squad did the school proud, loosing out by single digits and capped of a fantastic season for the club.

Davidson commented,

My time at UWS Basketball has been a great experience. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed playing alongside new people, taking on different responsibilities, and most of all watching the club develop over the past few years since we introduced the girls programme.

It took a lot of work from Johnathan and I to get more than five girls to training when we first started so to see numbers grow, our team come 2nd in BUCS during our first competitive season, followed by 1st place as well as reaching a cup final the next was an incredible achievement, and winning Team of the Year at Sports Ball two years running topped it off.

I’m delighted to be inducted into the UWS Basketball hall of fame. It’s an honour to be part of such a thriving club. I’m gutted my time here is over but its been the best experience with amazing people and I’ll always cherish the memories.
